OFFER DESCRIPTION
The grants are funded within the ERC AdG project “SOLROUTES – Solidarities and migrants routes across Europe at Large” (GA n.101053836); the annual gross amount of the grant, including social security expenses to be paid by the recipient, is € 16.500,00. The grants are intended to explore the theme of solidarity with migrants in transit and civic support to borders crossing in the following four countries (Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Belgium) through ethnographic, participatory and art-based methods. The research projects presented must focus on only one of these countries chosen by the candidate within the themes listed below:
– Borders, migration and refugees studies
– Solidarity and social movements in the field of migration
– Participatory and ethnographic methods in migration studies.
– Visual and art-based methods in migration studies.
These research themes can be addressed in the frame of an interdisciplinary approach in social sciences (anthropology, geography, sociology).
Offer Requirements:
The following will be assessed:
1. The quality of the research project presented (before writing the research project please carefully read the instructions at this link: https://tinyurl.com/mw9xnhzd)
2. Research experience and scientific publications, deemed congruent with the research topics of the PhD course
3. Thesis of the 5 or 4-year degree course.
4. Specific professional experiences relevant to the Doctorate themes and SOLROUTES project
5. Motivation Letter CV, titles, theses, motivation letter and publications (no more than 10) and research project must be presented in pdf format, attached to the application

Reference letters are not required. Any reference letters received will not be taken into consideration for the final score.
For the admission to the interview, a minimum score, resulting from the qualifications and the project evaluation, is required. The interview will focus on the discussion of the research project and of the qualifications presented, with special reference to some aspects of research methodologies and relevant theory in the specific subject areas. During the interview, the candidate’s real motivation, together with his/her languages knowledge will be assessed.
Specific Requirements:
English for all candidates; in addition, for the grant relating to Tunisia and Morocco: Arabic. For the one relating to Belgium: French. For the one relating to Turkey: Turkish.
